Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a CRL?
- A certificate revocation list is a list, signed by a certificate authority, of certificates it has revoked before their expiry date. Each entry has the certificate serial number, the revocation date and often a reason such as keyCompromise or superseded. CAs publish CRLs at the URL in the "CRL Distribution Points" field of their certificates.
- How do I check if a certificate is revoked?
- Decode the CRL here and search the revoked list for the certificate's serial number in hex, which x509-to-json shows as serialNumber. Check thisUpdate and nextUpdate too: a CRL past its nextUpdate date is stale.
- How do I convert CRL to JSON?
- Upload your CRL file above, click Convert, and download the JSON result instantly. No account or software needed.
- Is converting CRL to JSON free?
- Yes. It is free and unlimited for files up to 5 MB, with no account required. Larger files get 3 free conversions per day; beyond that, credit packs start at $3 and credits never expire.
- Are my files stored or shared?
- No. Files are processed in server memory and deleted immediately after conversion. File contents are never written to disk or retained.
- Do I need to install anything?
- No software installation needed. OmniConvert runs in the browser — just upload, convert, and download.
