Frequently Asked Questions

Where do IGC files come from?
IGC is the flight log format of the FAI International Gliding Commission. Gliding and paragliding flight recorders, variometers (Flytec, Naviter, XC Tracer, Skytraxx) and apps like XCTrack write it, and flight sites such as XContest, WeGlide and OLC let you download flights as .igc. The pilot and glider name from the header become the track name.
Which altitude is used, GPS or barometric?
The GNSS (GPS) altitude from each B record, which is height above the WGS 84 ellipsoid as logged by the flight recorder. If a logger records 0 for GNSS altitude, the pressure altitude is used instead.
Will Google Earth show the flight in 3D?
Yes. The KML path uses absolute altitudes, so Google Earth draws the flight at the heights it was flown rather than along the ground.
How do I convert IGC flight log to KML?
Upload your IGC flight log file above, click Convert, and download the KML result instantly. No account or software needed.
Is converting IGC flight log to KML free?
Yes. It is free and unlimited for files up to 5 MB, with no account required. Larger files get 3 free conversions per day; beyond that, credit packs start at $3 and credits never expire.

Do I need to install anything?
